OK, so my husband and I have been thinking about what furniture will go into the living room at our new place. I want the couches to be somewhat neutral in color because they will be across from a Chinatown orange wall I plan to paint in the dining room, which is currently a dirty red.
My black dining room furniture will pop against this orange!
I've looked around everywhere and I still love the KRAMFORS sofa series from Ikea. I think we will be getting the one above, but we still haven't decided on a color yet. The only thing I'm concerned about is the quality. Will it last?
As for the Arco floor lamp pictured above, I already snatched one up on Craigslist for $20. yes, $20! I'm so ready to move in, this has been the longest month of my life!
Love this! My inspiration!

That room looks fantastic! I especially love the pattern on the chairs...maybe because it reminds me of patterned paper! :)

How did you managed to get that lamp for a 20? I'm impressed and jelous:)
I can't wait to see pictures of what you are going to do with the house.
It's a much older model from the 60's but still looks great!
You got an Arco lamp for $20?! Old or not, that is an amazing price. I'm impressed!
Have you tried sitting in that green IKEA chair? I gave it a test ride when they first got it in stock, and I thought it was outrageously uncomfortable -- like, not even suitable for sitting in for more than 30 seconds. Just a warning!
Yeah it seems like it's just for looks. We haven't been to Ikea to really test anything out just yet.
Trying to get my husband to Ikea is impossible, hopefully we will go next weekend.
I have the Kramfors sofa in dark turquoise. We got one with a chaise section on one end. The quality is so-so.
Each seat cushion has it's own cover, and the more you sit on it, the more the cover 'walks' forward. Meaning the seam that was on the back is now 3" forward, and unzipping them and tugging them back before company comes isn't fun. I make my husband do that, ha.
Also, the foam the cushions are made of isn't so hot either - it's fine if you're not sitting on it ALL the time. But 'my spot' on our couch is usually the chaise, and where my butt goes is kinda flattened after about 20-30 minutes. The other regular side of our couch seems to be OK, but I know what good cushioning feels like and know that this couch doesn't have it. Too bad b/c it felt nice and squishy when we tested it so many times at the Ikea store!
All in all - it's an OK couch if it's not going to be your everyday - blog on it - live on it couch. It's a GREAT nap couch b/c the armrests are just high and soft enough to be a pillow. We plan on owning this couch for about 4-5 yrs total, so we're ok with that for now. Hope that helps!
Jenn, I bought a Kramfors leather sofa in April and so far, I love it. Granted, it's only been 3 months but I am happy with how it's been holding up. The leather, at first, seemed kind of stiff, and it would leave butt prints where you were sitting, ha, but it's starting to soften up and now it is looking and feeling better.
So, does this mean you got the house? Congrats!
Looking at the KRAMFORS couch, it's very beautiful, but it doesn't look all that comfy to me. I have an Ikea couch, and I found that the longer I sat on it, the more the cushion under my bum would collapse, so I'd be just inches off the floor. Not great if you're sitting there for two hours, watching a movie.
By August I should be moving in, How exciting!
Check out the furniture at Room and Board (roomandboard.com). Really top quality for reasonable price--and fantastic delivery. I ordered a lot of furniture from them when we remodeled last fall---LOVE their stuff! I have a couple of blog posts that showcase the furniture/lighting in our home.
Thanks for the tip (roomandboard.com), I'm falling in love with the Lenox couch..
I just wanted to share this site with you. Lots of neat things that reminded me of your blog postings.
