We started digging out the dirt to put in the new walkway.
For good drainage we would need to dig around 8 inches deep to put in sand and pebbles. We dug down about 6 inches and we hit the original walkway that was buried up long ago. it's broken and falling apart so we will have to remove it.... I would rather work over it but my husband wants to do everything the right way.

Don't you love it when it you find surprises like this? I know the feeling of just wanting to cover it up! My boyfriend and I bought a Fickett in December and we're going through all of the same things. It's fun to see the progress! Keep it up!
Well if the old walkway is where you want the new one, at least you know you've chosen a design that's similar to what your house originally looked like. That's cool. Don't be surprised if you find lots of other things buried in the yard. Especially in areas where there doesn't seem to be much growing . . . (Been there, done that.)
