Revitalized Artistry
I found an Etsy shop that sells really cool up-cycled mid-century furniture. Revitalized Artistry is run by Christopher White, he enjoys finding abused furniture and bringing them back to life by infusing a whole new style into each piece. Gorgeous stuff!

Re-Envisioned
While searching around on the Boston section of Craigslist, I found a company that finds beat up furniture (with good bones) and gives them a new life. The company is called Retro Craft Design, and they're based in West Concord, MA. Check out their site www.retrocraftdesign.com for more info and pictures.

Solair chair making a return
If you're lucky enough to have saved one from the garbage or snagged one from a yard sale your in luck if you want more. The original Canadian company www.iel-lachance.com is making them in new colors. You can find them for sale in shops located in Canada. There is even a facebook page that has a few posts from some shops that claim to ship worldwide.

I'm so mad I never learned to read or speak Polish
Exhibition: We Want to Be Modern
Polish Design 1955-1968: we want to be modern
The National Museum of Warsaw
04 February - 17 April, 2011
"This pioneering exhibition of approximately 180 objects from the collection of the national museum in warsaw, featuring the most important examples of polish design, rarely seen in the west, explores the significance of the objects of everyday use in shaping modernity and the modern polish identity emerging during the post-thaw period." More info and pictures at Designboom
Argh! I would love to go to this show!!
My mom came to the states from Poland when she was in her late teens with her parents. When I was young they spoke it around me all the time, and still do. I think it never stuck because my dad was born here and didn't understand a word. I can pick up on the gist of a conversation, but maybe If I went there on vacation and immersed myself... nah probably not.

Kettal
I was in Miami last month visiting my husband's family. One night running through sidewalks looking for a restaurant I saw this beautiful patio furniture in a modern store. I rushed so fast I didn't get a chance to really find out the name of the store until now. Kettal, it's the only store in the U.S.
Gorgeous stuff and probably very expensive. I can't find prices for anything - always a bad sign...

Peter Sandback
Peter Sandback is a modern furniture maker in the woods of Harrisville, NH. He uses local materials and his table tops are made from logs that are cut down on his property. The cylindrical wood bases for the Drum tables are from an actual drum factory in Manchester, New Hampshire
Originally built as a commercial garage, Sandback converted the building — set on 30 acres of forest — into an organized and efficient workshop where he handcrafts every piece of furniture in his line.
