Puppies and pictures

Made these little cuties for a friend of mine, Lea St. Germain, who is an amazing photographer! I needed a photo for my Christmas card and she wanted portraits of her two pups so we struck a deal.

Once my illustration was ready I ended up pulling out a roll of canvas that I never use, maybe once 4 years ago. Well, when I saw the result I was very excited, it's a lot more work stretching the canvas and the material eats up more ink, but it looked fab!

So, I needed Christmas cards. Lea came to my home and took a bunch of pictures of me, my husband and even my cat Floyd got in on the action. The result is cuteness!

Lea also has a bit of an obsession with dolls and miniatures. She has an Etsy shop called Blinky Doll's Boutique where she sells miniature accessories for dolls. Also be sure to check out her doll adventures on Instagram.

Polly Prissy Pants

So on a whim, I picked up this little lady 2 weeks ago. I think I got her because everyone around me is having kids. Babies are nice, but just not for me at the moment. I'd rather have a furry baby...

I call her Polly prissy pants or baby. We never really picked out a permanent name for her because we were still wondering if Floyd (the kitty king of the house) would warm up to her. He is to a certain extent, lots of hissing, but he is getting better. She loves following him and that drives him nutzo! More pictures to come!

Fish

I was in a pet store recently and I saw this really cool fish tank by Fluval. The Fluval Edge pictured above is only 6 gallons, but it may do the trick for small fish. Even if you don't want fish this would be a great water terrarium.

Floyd had a run in with a skunk last night

Floyd hasn't had anymore adventures with that turkey, but he did get up close and personal with a skunk last night.

When I first smelled that skunky odor coming through the windows my first reaction was "oh no, Mr. Floyd!" We went to the front door and there was our scared little kitty. My husband let him in and he went to his comfort zone, his food bowl. At first I thought he was OK, but nope: He had this foamy drool coming from his mouth from all the sneezing/throwing up, his eyes looked sore and red and he had a big yellow stain under his neck. MMM! I washed him with a hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and soap mixture. He still stinks a little and now my shower smells. Yuck! But he does feel silky soft - just with a skunky musk.

Boris and Stella

I thought I would share two custom pieces I made for my friend Kevin O'Shea back around Christmas time. These are of his two cats Boris and Stella, aren't they so cute. I heard these two prints were a big hit, I love happy endings!

Floyd vs. the turkey

Floyd had an exciting day today! He was stalking a turkey who came by to eat some wild blueberries. They kept circling around trees and bushes until the turkey had enough and started to leave. I had to go out there and get Floyd, because he wanted to walk off with the turkey.

Kitty bed

I finally got Floyd a kitty bed! I've always wanted one since I first saw Like Kittysville on Ebay. I had told Jayne (the shop owner) that I was interested in a mustard colored fabric. She ended up finding some beautiful vintage fabric that i just adore! I think I like it more than Floyd does!

How cute is this! At first I didn't even see a real cat, I thought it was a piece of art. Check out more designs and furniture at www.akemitanaka.com or purchase a cat bed at the Supermarket.

Ed Emberley

I recently saw this book in a antique store and I wanted to buy it, lol. When I was a kid I had the soft cover addition from the 80's. I was so in love with that book, it went with me every where. It may still be in my parents attic, they never throw away anything!
