It's soo big, and I LOVE IT!

My husband still needs to get all the doors on, but wow... What an amazing piece! To help you get a better understanding of how big this monster is take a look at the next picture... (I'm 5'7" by the way). After almost killing myself getting it off the moving truck its now safe in my home.

I've been saving that blank canvas for awhile now, going to paint something for the space! I'm so pumped!

Consignment booth update: first month's revenue!

Just picked up my check for my August earnings and I'm in the green! All the fun times I had searching through thrift stores near my home has made me $250! So this little venture makes me some nice side money and it really makes me happy, like blissfully happy. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time but never really took that next step and asked for more info, so glad I did. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate.

Tips for finding treasures

I used to love hitting up the thrift stores but then every time I'd go it would just be junk. So I got discouraged, felt like it was a waste of time and stopped going. Then until recently I started going about 1- 2 times a week hitting about 2 or 3 stores at a time and I've been finding more things. You forget people are dropping off stuff everyday. Frequent visits will help you see how the store cycles out items. You learn how often the staff replenishes merchandise and on what days. 

Also if you plan on selling your finds buy things that you love. Cause if you love them so will someone else.

Today I found a vase marked Germany, a metal nail horse sculpture and a cute turtle rocker. I planned on selling all these items in my booth, but that vase and sculpture are looking really good on my sideboard. I think I will hoard them for now, hee hee.

Setting up a booth at a consignment shop

This is always something I've wanted to do, sell my stuff in an antique store!

About a week ago I was walking in downtown Manchester, NH. I was suppose to be working out at the gym but it was too nice out to be indoors, so I walked. I remembered an antique store I've always wanted to visit so that was my destination. I don't know what came over me but I had so much fun walking around and talking to the ladies that ran the store. I started asking questions about renting a space and well a week later I have booth set up.

It was pretty simple to get it started, all I needed to do was fill out an application and pay them the first month's rent, in this case i'm required to stick with them for 3 months. There is always the thought that no one will buy your stuff, but I was willing to take that chance, you never know until you try.

So you need to set up an inventory of your items. For now I have a notebook with descriptions and prices and discounts for people who pay with cash. I cleaned up and dusted off all my items and tagged them according to the store's requirements. Pretty simple.

I hope people will enjoy my 50's-70's items. If you are local please stop by, my booth number is 44 at Antiques on Elm. I think I will also stick in some of my fabrics by the end of the week, I still have so much I want to place in there, but for some reason every time I go I never bring enough with me.

Had a really good day at HomeGoods yesterday!

I was starting to think I was going crazy by the number of treasures I was finding! Crazy! So I'm at the grocery store yesterday and across the street is a Homegoods, I hadn't been in there in awhile so I thought I'd go in and take a look around... Well, was I surprised!

The first thing I spotted was the ceramic bird that I guess is a knock off of Jonathan Adler's stuff. I felt bad buying a knock off but when I saw it was only $16.99 and the only one left I grabbed it! Then I walked through the lamp area and in the clearance aisle I found that really cool black cone lamp with the brassy base. My mouth dropped open, soo cool, I jumped up and down when I found it's mate! These were originally $50 each and I got them for $35 a piece.

Lastly I found a knockoff Kartell componibili unit for $99, I had no idea where it would go but I grabbed it! 

I just love finding treasures!!

Thrifty finds

I found this handmade wool blanket at a thrift store the other day. I don't ever buy blankets but this one was just screaming at me. Not sure what I'm going to do with it right now, I just like gazing at it from a far.

I also recently found a little group of mandala wire toys. I used to play with one when I was little and just recently thought to myself "Wow, these would look great as decoration!" Then last week I found three! If you have never seen one it's a toy that can be folded around to create different shapes and can even collapse into a flat ring.

Hobby Lobby review

I took my first trip to Hobby Lobby today, this store opened up in Manchester, NH last summer and I finally made it over to take a look around. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about it, some really bad and some really good. If you don't know about it, well, it's a craft store chain with a large selection of home decor items and your usual craft store stuff.

Ok see that yellow geometric sculpture above, I found that there for $15! I really like it, they even have a larger red and even bigger blue one that I must have! Overall the home decor items look way too cheap and have that made in China look. That sculpture was like a needle in a trashy hay stack. They did have some pretty glass domes for terrariums and I liked some of the smaller wrought iron hooks and wall decor.

Overall I guess I didn't like the store, but I'm a sucker for finding treasures. It had just enough interesting things to keep me coming back. Oh, and FYI don't forget to print out a %40 off coupon before you go!

89 cents, hell yes!

Went to a few thrift stores yesterday, but I didn't find one good thing. So I ventured a bit further to another Goodwill that I don't normally go to and I found some great stuff.

I have a few art glass paper weights already, but this one just caught my attention, and it doesn't hurt that the price was only .89! Doesn't it have that mod 1960's vibe? It's so hard to tell when something like this is old or not, it's so bright and shiny. Anyone have any thoughts?

Then I saw these awesome stetson plates (also .89 each), the stamp on the back looks to be 1960's. I remember seeing some of these plates on Etsy at one time, but I can't find them anywhere now. It's crazy that these are so old but the design looks so fresh and new.

Thrift store finds: Mikasa bud vases

I scored these two vases at my local Goodwill, a charcoal cone and butter yellow sphere. These have stickers on the bottom that read Mikasa by Helena Uglow, Japan. I love the little triangle flap, these have that 1980's deco look. Got mine for 99¢ and with my 10% membership card they were 89¢! I also did some research on Etsy, and sellers have these listed around $14-$16, none for sale at the moment. I was going to list these in my vintage shop, but I think I'm starting to like them too much.

Too many treasures

I love going to flea markets and thrift stores and I'm always picking up stuff for my vintage Etsy shop. Yes I have another shop, but it's been empty for a long time now. I wanted to collect enough stuff to have a full shop. My closets and garage can no longer hold any more things, so this week I'll be taking photo's and posting items. Keep checking in!

Goodwill Hunting

This looked like so much fun. Sherry from Young House Love and Katie from Bower Power browse a Goodwill store for interesting finds that can be used in stylish ways without spending much dough.

My friend Jennie and I always go thrifting and I don't know what it is that makes it soo much fun. The funky smells, the hunt for treasure, or getting things so cheap. It seems to give us such a high! We end up having an amazingly good time and there is always some crazy giggling involved.
