KNOW HOPE

I'm so happy and so proud of my country. Today was without a doubt one of the most beautiful moments in American history - and on several different levels. It still hasn't fully sunk in for me. I'm at a loss for words. Know hope.

I'm now waiting for the results of Proposition Hate in California. The numbers aren't looking so good right now, I'm afraid...

I am also so proud today. I thought McCain gave a good speech, then when I heard Obama I was blown away. It's one of those moments you only think happens in history books.

As for California, things are not looking good and I am sad. I don't know why so many people are willing to take away the rights of other americans just because they are gay. Two steps forward, one step back I guess.

When I watched his speech last night in front of alll those people it felt like I was watching a movie. It was so unreal. I feel proud today.

My pride in my country quickly dissolved as the results on the Bigotry Amendment became clear.

It will be challenged in court, and stands a good chance of being overturned (there's precedent that says you can't remove a group's rights with a simple majority vote). But the fact that half of what I thought was a progressive, intelligent state has been sold on hate and lies is distressing.

Even way over here in the UK we woke with a new optimism. I welled up when I listened this morning to Obama's victory speech.

Looking forward to good things!

Hey, I just recently found your blog and am loving it! I agree, I am so excited for the great new changes that Obama will bring to the table!

Yet here in California most of us are saddened and disappointed about prop 8. All we can do now is get MORE involved.

luv ur blog!
