I love this deck. My husband and I are thinking of building a cedar deck off the house in the summer when it's dry. We have a vernal pond which shows up in the spring. The previous owners mentioned that two ducks show up each year. Our home is surrounded by trees and it would be nice to have a place to walk around.
The travertine on our floors also continues outside. I'd like to build a deck that lays flat with the stone. One problem we face is that the roof has no gutters and that water would be dripping on the deck. So I did some research and found a site called Iron Age Grates. I'm not sure now much they cost but they have some really cool drain designs. I'm so ready for all this snow to melt!

I'm so jealous of your gorgeous house! Those grates look wonderful, by the way... :)
Those grates are gorgeous!! My husband has been building a huge deck out our backdoor and it makes the yard so much more usable. Alas, we don't have snow where I am, but a kind of metal bridge between the travertine and the decking would solve your dilemma.
Wow! What an awesome house you have! And a pond right in front sounds almost too good to be true.
The deck sound like a good plan. Always good to have some flat space to hang out on.
You hit the jackpot with that house. Congrats on living in such a beautiful home!
Thanks for all the nice comments!
