After reading Anna's (Door Sixteen) blog post about causal beds, I've decided to put up a canvas that I've been working on over the bed. (and I made my bed for the first time in months!)
After looking at the pictures of my bedroom, my queen bed looks so small! I'm happy to have such a large bedroom, but I think I'm going to need to upgrade to a king bed in the future..
The image below is what the room used to look like with the previous owners, before we moved in.
Update
Here is a close up on the flooring. Many people seem to think this is laminate flooring, but it's the real thing. Large stone slabs!

Fantastic bedroom space, Jenn. I like your hanging light fixtures--pray tell, where did you obtain them? I love the floor, too--very midcentury stylish.
The lights are original!
Those lamps are definately cool. Also, can we get a photo of the art above the bed? I'd really like to see it up close. Is it on your flickr?
The room, as the rest of your house, has beautiful bones, but you have really accentuated them with your understated decor. Love it.
Cool bedroom! You're so lucky to have such a large one and i love that you have an outside door off the bedroom, i've always wanted that for some obscure reason :)
I'm loving watching your house project as well! I'm going to go back a few posts to find out about the sofa that you ended up with because I am now on the hunt. I'd appreciate any suggestions! Okay, off to browse...
p.s. I was really inspired by that same post this morning! There isn't much I an do with our hotel bed today, but soon I'll have my own bed again!
I like it a lot. Yet it looks a little too spare for me at the moment. I think it would look great to have a overhead light shining on that canvas.
Those lights are killer.
They are exactly what I've been looking for for my bedroom.
I agree the room is a bit bare. Since I used to live in a small apartment I don't really have much stuff to fill up my house.
The lamps are made by Paavo Tynell

I love the spare quality of your room! I'm a fan of the keep it simple mantra for rooms for sleeping.
What a difference between you and the previous owners. The room really breathes now. Love the floor, and your bedside phone (and cat). King-size is wonderful (we have Cal-King), but the linens are godawful expensive (unless you shop Target clearance, like me!).
Huge bedroom! I'm so jealous!
What a lovely space. Very cool floors, and it looks out onto your secret garden, sigh.
