One of the reasons we fell in love with our particular home is that it has about 2300 sq. ft. of living area. Most mid-century homes (at least in New England) are quite small by comparison, so for a while it seemed like we would never find a place that would suit both our space needs and our architectural wants. Thankfully, we did.
The house has three "bedrooms": a large master bedroom, another large room that is my office and a third, smaller (14ft x 12ft) room in between the two. We've been using this third room as storage (we have no basement) but with the garage almost completed, my husband has been moving his tools and things out there, and the room is beginning to clear out. There's still some stuff in there I need to move - a table, my childhood doll house, my nana's old army trunk, a bunch of old lamps - but it's getting to where we can start thinking about turning it into its intended use: a guest room!
I'm at a loss for what I would like to do in there. What color should I paint it? For some reason I keep thinking blue or yellow... Any ideas?

The guest room

uh... your nana's old army trunk? you HAVE to tell the story.
as to the color, i don't think you could go wrong with blue OR yellow. it just has to be the right blue or yellow. i'd think a soothing lighter color for either.
The trunk went with her to Japan in WW2, (she was a nurse). My dad recently told me a story she had mentioned to him of her and two other nurses riding in a jeep in the jungle and she felt a bullet whizz right by her head.
Her green army issued trunk was passed down to me. It has her old uniforms and her wedding dress inside. I could never throw it away but I just can't find a place for it.
Oh my! You aired your "dirty laundry" finally! I was never allowed to open that door when I would come over. Now it's all out and soooo clean! I would like to see a mustard yellow or blue accent wall and a nice bed in there. A big one, so I can stay over :) Also, it needs custom Jennski decals of some sort. Big ones!

Or some of these palettes are nice:

i love that room with the blue accent wall. It so inspired me!!!
You could make a fabric throw cover for the army trunk and use it as a table at the base of the guest room bed, or against the wall.
I love the idea of light airy blue walls. But what about painting a mural on one wall with your signature style. Something like this would be really cool and a treat for anyone who stayed at your house...http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=13750480.
Oh, and I was at Michaels today so had to check out your scrapbook line. I ended up getting a set of the Actopus to Zelephant stickers. Think I'm going to make something to hang on the wall for my niece. They're so fun!
I miss it up there. On colors, I think blue would be nice for a room to sleep in but yellow might be good if you want it to have a lot of energy.
