John-Paul Philippé for West Elm

Oh my, I want the whole collection!
John-Paul is a multi-talented painter and designer who divides his time between his Soho work studio, bucolic upstate home and roster of clients around the world. His distinctively modernist painting style put him on the map, and John-Paul now references this clean, graphic style in projects as diverse as furniture design, murals, large scale sculpture and even a private chapel in the Dominican Republic. John-Paul has also collaborated with Barneys New York on design components for a dozen stores, both in the U.S. and Japan.

MFA Opens New Wing

After 10 years of construction, renovation and anticipation, the Museum of Fine Arts opened its new wing on Friday. The MFA will host a free community day showcasing the new wing on Nov. 20.
The new wing looks amazing, the best part there is a mid-century section! MFA Opens New Wing - Video - WCVB Boston

A blast from the past
Three years ago I did some art for a Hood Eggnog commercial (a New England dairy company, for those of you outside their area of distribution). Now that Mad Men is so popular, this commercial seems even more relevant today. Mmm eggnog...

New Rug

A few weeks ago I blogged about carpet floor tiles. Well I purchased some thinking they would go in the entrance hall, but it just looked too loud. I think they look better under the table. This rug is is made by Flor.com, but I purchased them at CB2. It wasn't cheeper there but I had my eyes on these decorative color balls, which now live in a bowl on the table.

Peter Sandback

Peter Sandback is a modern furniture maker in the woods of Harrisville, NH. He uses local materials and his table tops are made from logs that are cut down on his property. The cylindrical wood bases for the Drum tables are from an actual drum factory in Manchester, New Hampshire

Originally built as a commercial garage, Sandback converted the building — set on 30 acres of forest — into an organized and efficient workshop where he handcrafts every piece of furniture in his line.
