Jenn Ski Paints
I made this new painting yesterday based on one of my prints. It's made with cut paper, acrylic paint and my sharpie. Half way into making this I rewarded myself with a thrifting break at Goodwill, but then it was back to work.
I also made a time-lapse video of the process. Hope you enjoy it! If you all like it, I'll make more.

(I used an awesome song from th '70s by Roberto Pregadio. If you like this type of music, I suggest you check out this amazing YouTube playlist.)

Crayons
My parents never had cable, so I watched a lot of public television. Damn I learned so much! Thanks Sesame Street!
On a sad note, I'm sure all those factory workers have been replaced by machines. :(

The collector
Check these beauties out! This is what I look for when i'm on eBay or Etsy. This grouping is just a small part of my bigger flower brooch collection, but these five are my favorites. It's crazy to think these brooches are over 40 years old, wish I knew more about them. It's taken me a few years to find this particular style brooch. I want to find one more so I can frame them, keep an eye out for me!

Updates to the foyer
I picked up this gorgeous John-Paul Philippé art rug during West Elm's Labor Day sale. The rug is still on sale! Nice and thick, good quality!
So anyway this room has never really had a lot of attention put into it, that's because I never really knew what to do with it, and I still don't, ha! The other day I got a cheap old dresser which was going to go in the guest room/ storage room, but I really like it in the foyer. It will stay here for the time being.
Also I picked up that large bull sculpture last winter at HomeGoods. Sometimes you get lucky and you can find cool things there.

Affordable alternatives
I got a catalog mailed to me from Chiasso just a few days. Not really sure how they got my info but, anyway... For those who don't know it's a store that sells modern/contemporary decor and furniture. Not really a big fan, most of their stuff looks kind of tacky and dated, but there were a few items I would like to mention.
I always wanted wanted a few urchin sculptures by C. Jeré, but never wanted to dish out a $1000. Well Chiasso has a set of 3 called burst wall pods for $118 and another version is silver.
(Top picture) They also have a cheeper version of another piece by C. Jeré, a chrome sputnik sculpture. Chisso's version is called the galactic sculpture. It's not as delicate but is a steal for only $78 (but it's nearly half the size of the original, bummer)
