I found these posted over at Black Eiffel, but the idea was originally posted over at thekitchen.com. I'm suddenly in the mood for carrots...
For Japanese New Year's one of the traditional dishes is a daiko & carrot pickeled salad "namasu." My mom would cut the carrots in a cherry blossom form and slice it thin using her trusty mandolin.
