Sideboard project

My husband is on spring break and I'm putting him to work! We always wanted to make and sell furniture but we were always scared it wasn't a good road to go down. How can you compete with things made in China... you can't. We plan on making the sideboard, a new platform bed and night stands.

The sideboard is going to go in the foyer. It will replace the smaller console table I found on craigslist last year. The sideboard idea was actually inspired by Ben Kraftons work of Etsy shop Dela Flamant. I plan on having his work featured above and I want some of those wire hexpods from CB2 sitting on the sideboard. I can't wait!

Very chic! I'm sure you'd do well with them. Why not manufacture in China yourself? Think big...

Super jealous. He does websites and furniture? You got lucky!

I'd love one of those sideboards myself. Loving the colour combination. There's something very similar on a tv commercial here in the UK but yours looks so much better.

Will your hubby hire out to build more of those cabinets? You could have a lovely side business!

Can't wait to see the finished product. It looks good in sketchup. Have you heard of Blu Dot? http://bludot.com/
Some guys who wanted good design, but affordable furniture started the company after school and it's taken off.
