Almost finished

When we first moved in we had to cut down lots of old growth shrubs. That project seemed like it would never be completed! So after dealing with that craziness I decided that I wouldn't plant any more bushes in the front. A simple border of stones was all I wanted, clean and simple. Oh and the toads love it too!

Jenn, you are wise in not having shrubs or bush growth next to the house. However, do not be intimidated in not displaying the entrance with color. May I suggest potted plants that can accentuate that corner of the house? So that you do not have to yearly sore the potted plants, choose annual plantings. At the end of the growing season, you can compost the remains. I would prefer clay/ceramic pots to plastic. The pots will require shelter indoors during winter months so that they will not crack. Square pots would fit the facade of an atomic/retro home best.

I really like the gravel border around your home. I want to do that, but feared it wouldn't look that great. You've given me some confidence. The circle walkway is awesome too. Cheers!
