Plastering

So 95% of the paneling has come down, and I have started plastering the walls. My only dilemma is that my studio is located in my home where the celling is at it's highest, about 13ft-14ft. This will be fun... This is me standing where the wall is at it's highest.

Also I had another great idea, I'm thinking of selling my green oval table and having my husband make me a workspace island. I love my table, but I think another work area with storage is a better option.

Facelift

There have been some changes going on around here. I updated the banner on my blog and I updated and added some buttons on the left hand side.

Also my studio is also going through some MAJOR changes! I'll show you pictures soon. I don't really want to, because it looks like an explosion went off. Feeling a bit under the weather, but I just bought plaster and I may go and slap some on the bare concrete brick walls tonight.

New at CB2

Cb2 I'm loving you more and more. Check out their new stuff, they have a lot of wonderful things. I'm really liking these two new rugs. Fantastico!

Emma Pillsbury style

I've never watched Glee, but I just recently found a blog dedicated to one of their super cute characters named Emma Pillsbury, who is portrayed by actress Jayma Mays. The blog is ironically named What would Emma Pillsbury wear?, the blog follows all the cardigans, pencil skirts and cute accessories.

"Discussing Emma's style and costuming, Glee's costume designer Lou Eyrich has explained: "We wanted to make her look like everything’s so neat — perfectly ironed and tucked-in shirts with matching belts, shoes and pins. We wanted to make her stand out from the other teachers. She’s always so happy and excited, so we wanted her outfits to represent that sunny disposition. In the pilot, we made her look much more teacher-y. Now we're having more fun with her character, keeping her bright and unusual. Quirky is the word. Emma’s also always in stacked Mary Janes or T-strap heels. It takes the outfit down from being too stylish or too sexy. It makes her look prim and almost old-fashioned."[4]"

New year, new office!

This was a 3-door closet in my studio that could never hold all my supplies. I removed the doors, started painting it white... and never finished. I felt like I was wasting my time painting this ugly thing...

So for about a year now, my closet has been a mess, with all kinds of art and office supplies falling out of it. This year I'm doing something about it! The closet unit, the paneling - it's all coming down! I'm a little sad about ripping out the old original pecky cypress paneling and original built-ins, but I HATE THEM! They've made my office unusable.

So after everything comes off and we plaster the walls, we're putting in a small tall closet and tons of cabinets. The table that currently serves as my desk is also where I prepare my prints, make vinyl decals and package things for shipping. It's not nearly big enough for all that, so I'll also be adding in some desk/counter space. Here is a sketch of what is going to happen:

Kettal

I was in Miami last month visiting my husband's family. One night running through sidewalks looking for a restaurant I saw this beautiful patio furniture in a modern store. I rushed so fast I didn't get a chance to really find out the name of the store until now. Kettal, it's the only store in the U.S.

Gorgeous stuff and probably very expensive. I can't find prices for anything - always a bad sign...

New bathroom sconce

I went with the Possini Euro. I like the clean look and the metal rectangle kind of goes with my shower door motif. My husband drilled a big hole through the wall and we were able to get everything done in two days. I was the little helper and forgot to take any photo's of the process, but here's a picture of the bathroom before. The room has way more light! Hmm I wonder where else I can stick another sconce, these things make a room look wonderful!

I think we scared some people at Target today...

I was walking in Target today when I noticed a design I had made for their gift cards was finally available. My husband was with me and when I pointed to them he was screaming, lol.

Metal sculpture

There is snow on the ground, lots of it and I find myself searching for garden items. I have a fascination with outdoor metal sculpture, can't get enough. Found these amazing steel sculptures below on Etsy from artist Wyatt Ellison. Then I found his website and I was blown away! Enjoy!

Lighting in the bathroom

After living in hotel rooms last month, I'm really missing the fabulous lighting the bathrooms had. I do love my house but sometimes I wished it had more lighting. So to brighten up the guest bathroom will be a challenge since the walls are all made of concrete. Luckily behind the wall with the frame is a closest with a light. So in theory we could drill a hole through that wall and hook up the wiring through there.

Here are some older pictures of the bathroom. I'll post the updated photo's soon.
