What happened to West Elm?

I used to blog about West Elm a lot, but I feel like they're getting a bit boring. Well, maybe boring is too strong a word... I have an old W.E. catalog that my mom gave me back in 2004 and I thought their stuff was amazing, so unique! Now I feel like they're another Crate & Barrel: nice, but yawn... They still have some pretty fabric patterns and furniture, but I miss the old West Elm. :(

Project Runway favorites

I must say I really like this group of designers this season on Project Runway. My favorite dress this week was done by Emilio, I LOVED it! Those red rectangles got my attention. Do you have a favorite designer yet?

Portable Rotary Phone?

Portable Rotary Phone

The infamous Portable Rotary Phone is an original rotary phone that has been modified to be a cellular phone. The Port-O-Rotary has a functional rotary dial, rings the original, loud metallic bells when a call is received, and even has a dial tone!

Phone comes fully assembled and tested. All you have to do is open the phone, insert your SIM card, and turn the unit on! The unit will utilize your phone number and account minutes. The internal cellular module works within any country that has one of the 900MHz, 1800MHz, or 1900MHz cellular bands (90% of the world). The Port-O-Rotary is truly international with up to 15-digit dialing, auto-frequency selection, '+' characters, and PIN # entry for pre-paid cards.

Each Port-O-Rotary is an original rotary phone that has been specially modified. There may be small scratches and scraps on the exterior, also known as 'character'. The battery can run the phone for 4-5 days (yes days) and is charged by an external jack on the rear of the phone (charger included).

Phone Includes:

Main controller board
Ringer module
Cellular module
2000mAh Lithium-Polymer battery
Built-in fast battery charger (2 hour max charge time)
Wall adapter (US spades but is 110-240V rated)
Mini-cellular internal antenna (compatible with North American and European Frequencies)

I'm so ready for all this snow to melt!

Summer/Fall 2008

October 2009

This spring I will finally have some grass growing on my property, hooray! My husband and I purchased our home back in August of 2008 and most of the work we have done has been outside.

The back of my home is all woods and the front yard was all overgrown shrubs so I really wanted my own patch of grass. My husband and I cleared those enormous shrubs/trees and I have been raking out the dirt. Most recently we had large concrete circles professionally poured into the frames we built. Below is what I hope to get my yard looking like this summer. I'm counting the days!

Readers I need some help

I have a bit of a long driveway that looks kind of sad where it meets the curb, so I want to put up a modern stone structure at the entrance that matches the style of the house. I've been looking everywhere, but I can't seem to find any pictures out there of anything I like. I want the structure to also incorporate lighting and a mailbox. If anyone has any pictures that might help please send them my way!

Poor Conan...
Many people are getting pretty upset over this late night controversy.

Scotties

Scotties is launching new package designs for their EnviroCare tissue brand, which includes one of my own designs. I heard it will be part of a Costco pack found only in Canada. If you spot one of these please pick some up! I never got any samples and I'm willing to pay or trade for a few boxes.

Boris and Stella

I thought I would share two custom pieces I made for my friend Kevin O'Shea back around Christmas time. These are of his two cats Boris and Stella, aren't they so cute. I heard these two prints were a big hit, I love happy endings!
