Royal modular shelving system by Poul Cadovius relaunched!

I've had the hardest time finding the perfect Cado unit for my home and I'm excited that these beauties are being made again. Twentytwentyone is exclusively offering the recently relaunched Royal System by Poul Cadovius and it's avilable in walnut or oak. FYI this company is located in the UK so I'm guessing shipping costs to the US will probably on the high end.

Dreaming of Aqua: before and after

After
Before
A fellow mid-century enthuesiast has been remodeling her home. She had contacted me about buying one of my larger pieces and now I can see she found the perfect place for it! I just love her wall color choice, perfect!

Marie-Josée also redid her kitchen and she had some help from her brother-n-law who is an architect, lucky her! The kitchen cabinets were made with Formica products, I love the way they came out. As someone who is going through the remodeling process I know how hard it can be. I'm sure she is soo happy it's finished!

Time for a new header

Ugh, I have been sick for a few days and I'm finally back to my old self. I'm feeling so amazing in fact that I decided to take one of my existing prints and spice it up a bit. Every time I see this pattern I think "curtains".

Also an update on my kitchen, looks like I will be taking out the old cabinets soon to make room for the electrician to do his work. I'm so excited!!

Instagram

I've joined the wonderful world of Instagram, not really sure why I waited until recently, ah well, better late than never. Above is my recent thrifty finds, two huge ornate keys. I'll be sticking these in my consignment booth space tomorrow. These would look really cool spray painted!

Shopping on the brain

Mod Cloth, Optical Delight Top
Mod Cloth, Just like honey heel

I've been getting my fit on and I've lost a bunch of weight, wahoo for me! So I have been organizing my closet and getting rid of oversized clothes and things I just I don't wear anymore, most of it has been donated by now.

So now comes the fun part of buying some new threads! I'm taking my time and only buying really unique pieces and things I just love. Found a bunch of dresses at Mod Cloth but the grand total was getting a bit high so I just decided on the mustard heels and the zigzag top, which I can't wait to wear with leggings. I'm still on the hunt for a new purse and a new fall coat.

I'm really having fun looking for clothes! As someone who would never shop for herself I'm in need of some help. Does anyone know of any places where I can purchase some gems? I have found a few picks on Etsy, this red dress which I am in love with. It will look great with those honey heels! So any links will be helpful, thanks!

Tips for finding treasures

I used to love hitting up the thrift stores but then every time I'd go it would just be junk. So I got discouraged, felt like it was a waste of time and stopped going. Then until recently I started going about 1- 2 times a week hitting about 2 or 3 stores at a time and I've been finding more things. You forget people are dropping off stuff everyday. Frequent visits will help you see how the store cycles out items. You learn how often the staff replenishes merchandise and on what days.

Also if you plan on selling your finds buy things that you love. Cause if you love them so will someone else.

Today I found a vase marked Germany, a metal nail horse sculpture and a cute turtle rocker. I planned on selling all these items in my booth, but that vase and sculpture are looking really good on my sideboard. I think I will hoard them for now, hee hee.

Geometric tiles to die for!

Triangle glass tiles by heathceramics.com

Waveline glass tiles by besttile.com

Palms glass tiles by islandstone.com

So I wasn't going to put in a tile backsplash, if I did it wouldn't be for some time. Last night I started poking around and found some really interesting tiles and of course I saw a bunch of things I love!! I was really impressed with the tiles over at heathceramics.com, below are more drool worthy tiles from them to pick from.

New kitchen coming in September!

So the kitchen cabinets have been ordered and now it's time to focus on the details, hardware! I just love the simple look of edge pulls. I'm still not sure what finish to go with.

Below is a mock up with pulls, one with a gray finish and the other black. I thought seeing this would help me decide, but I still don't know. What do you think?

Cabana Bay - New retro styled hotel in the works

Universal Orlando has announced plans to build a new retro themed resort hotel called the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, which is to be completed by 2014.

I just love the look of this place, the image above almost looks like a vintage postcard. I will so be staying there in the future! Can you imagine how fun the rooms will be!

So currently it's still being built and won't be opening until next year. The new hotel will be operated by Loews Hotels & Resorts and feature both moderate and value-level accommodations in the forms of family suites and standard rooms. Artwork released by Universal Orlando shows a glimpse at what the Cabana Bay Beach Resort will look like, featuring a sleek ’50s style across its lobby, pool, and rooms. Across multiple buildings, Cabana Bay beach resort will include a total of 1,800 rooms: 900 family suites, capable of sleeping six, that include kitchen areas and 900 standard guest rooms

Omg, check out this room sketch below! I later found an example of what the room will actually look like, how cool!

Affordable floor

Whenever anyone buys a home they have all these ideas of what they want to update and change but then you realize you're not made of money. Jody, a follower of the Mid-Century Modern facebook page had that same dilemma. Instead of expensive flooring she decided to throw around some fun shades of paint and create a Pollock inspired floor. Total cost $250.
